When you read an article in the local newspaper about a family left homeless because of a fire, do you wonder what the writer means when they say "the Red Cross is assisting." To the famly it means everything, a warm place to stay,  food and clothing, referrals to agencies who can provide additional help and even grief counseling. It means a warm embrace in the middle of a cold night, a face with a smile and an ear for listening. Every time you purchase a product from the American Red Cross, be that a first aid kit or a Health and Safety class like CPR, that money goes to help families during disaster. Those difficult times don't always make the front page, but house fires, local flooding and severe weather issues are the leading causes of the need for our help............everyday. Which means we need your help...................everyday. When you choose ways to help your community, your country and those less fortunate around the world, we know that you make a conscious decision to give of yourself and we are grateful when you choose us as your beneficiary. When you choose to donate blood you are having a life saving impact on countless folks you will never know. When you choose to volunteer with us, you take a learning journey that results in giving help to people you may already know, or will meet for the first time. You'll take some training to get ready to be a Red Cross volunteer, you'll learn a new skill or two, valuable assets at any time of life. When you make a financial contribution to the American Red Cross you are choosing to see that money in action, buying blankets, food and clothing, providing life saving measles vaccine and sponsoring swimming lessons to kids who otherwise might grow up never having learned to swim. No matter how you choose to make a difference in this world we invite you to help us help, to understand what it means to say "the Red Cross is assisting." Thank you.
